“Centre Yourself” (2019), by Canadian landscape artist, Donna Winn
Donna Winn, about her latest works: “Essentially I hope to interpret what I am seeing in my own way. I would like my paintings to reflect what I feel about the subject. There is conscious reasoning for the semi-abstract characteristics in my paintings; whether they are the lines, shapes or colours.”
“Centre Yourself” is gallery wrapped, with the sides painted. It is wired on the back and does not require framing.
Living in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, inspiration is all around this Canadian landscape artist. This means that artwork coming to fruition is often related to either what Donna observes, and how/what she feels emotionally. Textures, values, lines, and shapes are chosen carefully and depend on what kind of message Donna would like to relay. This can be a specific (cultural) message or a certain feeling in need of being expressed.
