“Chihuly Inspired” by Canadian artist, Donna Winn
Canadian artist Donna Winn, about “Chihuly Inspired”, a mixed media on cotton: “This painting came to life after my visit to the Hot Shop in Tacoma, WA. Seeing the artists creating vessels from a blob of hot glass, was inspirational. The colours were amazing! The excitement of seeing the finished piece was tangible. I was inspired to create something similar on paper. I used watercolour, acrylic, and inks on a 100% cotton sheet, in hopes of creating a clear feel of glass. Dripping the ink was almost like laying the glass strands down on paper. This to me was something like the flowers that Chihuly created.
