“Coffee Break” (2017) by German artist, Karin Goeppert

“Coffee Break” by German artist, Karin Goeppert, is an elegant mixed media work in the main colours of black and white with some orange and touches of red and yellow.

On the left lower side you can see a cut out from a paper. Coffee and reading the paper – perfect relaxation!

Goeppert: “I saw this headline “The Great Genius” in a newspaper while having a cup of coffee and I had the idea of creating a painting with this cut-out as a collage piece and some cups. So I used it – kind of tongue in cheek. I really enjoyed the process of creating this work.”

To get the rich texture, which is of course even more visible in the original artwork, Karin used ashes and bitumen. She also glued crumbled silk paper with high-quality wood glue onto the canvas. The other materials she used are artist-quality acrylic colours and artist-quality oil pastels.

The sides are painted white but left visible traces of the development of this work and framing is not required. With a hook on the back, it is ready to hang.

The work is signed and dated on the back and sealed – including the sides – with artist quality glossy varnish.
