“Plum Water”, resin art by Calgary artist, Elena Myasnikova
Calgary-artist, Elena Myasnikova, on “Plum Water”: “Violets and purples are queens in this piece. While working on one of my daily studies, I was inspired by the effect of a few shades blending together on a white bed of paint. I fell in love with it and it inspired me for “Plum Water”. This work took me back to the beautiful land of Uzbekistan, where I’ve spent many happy summer months during my childhood years.”
“Plum Water” is part of Elena’s Winter series, “Melancholic notes” (2018/2019). This series, all with a resin finish, was inspired by her personal life changes, while driven by nostalgic emotions and rather forlorn feelings. Palettes and composition choices were affected directly by her state of mind and personal experiences. Works in this period of time are noticeably lighter and softer in colours.
Elena used multiple layering techniques in order to create deep hue and light effects. The artwork is heavy due to multiple layers of resin in the finish.
Gallery wrapped and wired on the back, this work does not require framing and is ready to hang.
