“Sunrise at Francis Point” by Canadian landscape artist, Barbara DeMott
Barbara on “Sunrise at Francis Point”: “This painting expresses the calm and softness of a late Autumn sunrise; caressing the moss-covered cliffs of the marine park. This is a magical place since sea lions, seals, ducks, and sea birds frequent the cliffs and surrounding waters. Killer whales can be seen spouting in Pacific waters beyond. This painting portrays the morning stillness with an Asian approach shown in the asymmetrical composition, simplicity and balance of positive and negative.”
This work is framed and ready to hang.
In order to understand her subject matter at an intuitive level, Barbara has studied Chinese brush painting and calligraphy for years. Only after Barbara studied Japanese tea ceremony and Bharata Natyam dance with noted artists from China, she was rewarded with the Chinese name, “Baolan”. Barbara DeMott now uses this name to sign her paintings (see image).
