Modern expressionist (Poland)

Modern expressionist artist, Maciej Cieśla (1988) lives and works in Poland. He is a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Wroclaw (2013) and studied under the supervision of Piotr Błażejewski. Maciej holds a MA degree in painting and sculpture.

One of Cieśla’s main themes is the relationship between women and men. In the background of his paintings, mythological, symbolic, or folkloric elements combine; exploring this dynamic. He shows an ironic approach to evil characters. In his artistic universe, women can be evil and meanwhile, masculine demons purport violence and a lack of respect, restrain, and empathy.

Maciej Cieśla’s work is included in gallery collections in Poland, Germany, and Canada, and his talent is recognized by an increasing number of art professionals.

Search for unique style

Maciej Cieśla spent two years searching for his unique style and the right tools that would enable him to realize his artistic expression. The reinterpretation of traditional movements in his work results in colorful, expressive, and figurative paintings. The freedom of forms – some more geometric, some more abstract – allows him to examine different themes in his oil paintings.

“Through an individual, uncensored technique, painting is the ability to communicate and share an artist’s inner world.” — Maciej Cieśla
