She has a MA degree (with distinction) in painting, has been featured in publications like Artist Network, and received a variety of prizes, amongst which “Best Contemporary Abstract Artist” (2018) by Build Magazine in Spain.

My aim is to create artwork that intrigues and challenges our initial perceptions. I love the natural world and organic textures, forms, and beauty are fundamental to my art. I am particularly fascinated by transient phenomena and enjoy using my art to attempt to capture the sense of individual moments in time.

My figurative work focuses on the representation of the feminine form. These works are not intended to be self-portraits, yet more of an expression of my own internal states of being.

Each painting begins as a feeling, a need to express something. The physical act of laying down those first blocks of colour is a powerful, reality changing statement, like an eruption. Later, whilst I’m painting I get lost in a personal world of colour and form, hypnotized by the act of translating internal images and sensations into colour and rhythm.

“I have always been fascinated by mixed media techniques and experimenting with various materials and subject matter. My passion for art stems from a love of experimenting and exploring the languages of color and texture. I love the challenge of picking a subject and then expressing myself using these languages.

My preferred tools are the spatula and brush. I enjoy using acrylics as their quick-drying nature allows me to quickly build up texture and to be spontaneous about applying changes. As a mixed media artist, gold leaf, watercolor and pastel techniques are also regularly included in my work.

Gold leaf became a feature in much of my art after moving to Spain in 2015. I originally used it as an artistic response to the fierce intensity of Madrid’s summer sun, but it has evolved and is now a simultaneous reference to both luminosity and internal awakening.
