After an introduction over Christmas involving Alicia Keys and RTL News, we are very proud and honored to welcome UrbanArtist Pee-Jay, aka HippeShit-013, to our growing group of talented artists.
This inspiring Dutch artist has used his creativity to build a new life after a brave, and difficult fight with cancer. On his sickbed, an old friend gave him a sketchbook and a pencil with the message to “do something with his creativity” and it pretty much started from there. Finding peace in creating something new, it did not take long before a large canvas, paint, and brushes were part of the experience.
Developing his own style as the months passed, Pee-Jay founded HippeShit013 in 2017. He finds his inspiration in quotes from strong leaders, like Obama, Dalai Lama, and Jimi Hendrix to name a few. In his own style, influenced by street, urban and pop art, Pee-Jay transfers their charisma, personality, and their strength onto the canvas.
He masters this skill, and not just with icons from around the world; going by this beautiful commissioned work he did for the twin granddaughters of their recently diseased “opa”. Sharing with you these twin-pieces of Peter: one painting in Pee-Jay’s urban style for one of the sisters (after visiting her home, making sure the colors would fit in), one in a pastel palette for the other sister, and the original photo he worked from. “You don’t have to be strong to hold on. You have to be strong to let go…”

Our journey to tell the artist story will bring us back to The Netherlands soon! Full blog to follow after we meet Pee-Jay in person.
